MSI Mega Book MS-1057 lightweight Core Duo laptop
MSI has rolled out one of the most compact Core Duo laptops yet, the 4.1-pound MS-1057. The box comes with a
12.1-inch WXGA display, 100GB hard drive, 2GB maximum RAM, dual-layer burner, and a T2000 Core Duo or T1000 Core Solo.
Unfortunately, it looks like MSI decided that one way to keep this one light and small was to shrink the battery; the
computer has a mere 1.5-hour battery life, which means you're not going to be using this one to watch movies on a plane
-- though if you turn the backlight down and energy-saving features up, you can probably get away with playing Solitaire
for a couple of hours.

Blech! I'll stick with the Fujitsu P7120 - 10" (or so, may be 11") plus two batteries (without increasing its size) nets me a solid 10 hours of battery life. The Core Duo would be nice, but not with halving or quartering the battery life.

Meh... Look for the Sony SZ series -- Core Duo up to T2500, 4 lbs, 13.3" WXGA screen, 3 hours battery life watching DVDs (my test).

Come on, why not just skip the cd drive and hit it with like.. 6-8 hours battery instead??

that is the dumbest thing I ever heard... making a battery last 1.5 hours is a clear way to having a lot of annoyed customers and no one ever buying another of your producs.

you'll be able to get longer life batts for like 60, its the exact same design as all the previous msi/medion notebooks, so the batt will be the same

These will likely be very cheap - after they become rebadged as Averatecs ;-)
(The current version offered by Avertec goes for about a grand - http://www.averatec.com/notebooks/2100series.htm)
